BRUNEI DARUSSALAM – ACAI recently marked our continued dedication to regional health by participating in the International Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Conference and Exhibition 2025. Held from October 8–12, 2025, at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam, the event served as a vital core for policymakers, experts, and partners from across ASEAN to share groundbreaking innovations and strategies for preventing and managing NCDs.

In a powerful demonstration of ACAI’s strategic importance, the ACAI Governing Board Meeting and the Independent Review Panel Meeting were also convened at the ICC on October 8–9, 2025. These crucial internal discussions set the stage for ACAI’s active engagement throughout the conference.

ACAI’s made a great impression during the exhibition, culminating in a significant visit from the Minister of Health of Brunei Darussalam, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Haji Mohammad Isham bin Haji Jaafar. The Minister took time to highlight the critical importance of fostering collaboration between Brunei Darussalam and ACAI to promote healthy and active ageing throughout the region.

ACAI’s experts delivered a series of insightful presentations, lending their voices and knowledge to key discussions:

  • Dr. Teo Shyh Poh, an ACAI Governing Board Member of Brunei Darussalam, captivated the public session “PKWE / Older Persons / Careers: Talk on Healthy Ageing – Self-care Management” with an insightful presentation.
  • The ACAI Alternate Governing Board Member of Brunei Darussalam, Dr. Hjh Norhayati Hj Md Kassim, shared deep local perspectives with a presentation titled “BruMap-NCD: Insights on the Roadmap to a Healthier Nation”.

Adding a practical dimension to the dialogue, ACAI Country Coordinator of Brunei Darussalam Mr. Hafiz Kifle conducted a site visit to the Senior Citizen Activity Centre (PKWE) Lambak Kanan in the Brunei-Muara District. There, he offered a “Briefing on the Plan of Action on Successful Ageing,” underscoring the tangible impact of thoughtful policy.

ACAI’s impactful participation at the conference underscores our commitment to advancing regional collaboration, driving innovation, and shaping crucial policy dialogue to promote healthy and active ageing across all of ASEAN. The engagement in Brunei Darussalam reinforced the shared vision for a healthier, more vibrant future for older persons in the region.
